Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJERRY (GERMANO) MARTIN Peacefully, in his sleep on Sunday, August 24, 2003, Jerry passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. Family and friends had recently gathered to celebrate his 90th birthday. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 52 years Irene; daughters, Nanci and Lisa; son Tony (Wendy) grandchildren, Lauren and Kelsey; sister-in-law Florence; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Jerry was predeceased by his mother Marianna; father Antonio; sisters, Elfea and Elsa; and brother Peter. Jerry was born July 27, 1913 in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy. He immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of nine. A born salesman, Jerry spent the better part of his career as a traveller with Acklands. He was employed as a warehouse manager with H. Paulin & Co. at the time of his retirement. As a young man, Dad spent countless hours paddling on the water in a canoe he built with meticulous detail. In later years Dad got enjoyment from the simple pleasures: volunteering at cub scouts, listening to opera, wood carving, cooking and most importantly, spending time with his family. Fiercely proud of his Italian heritage, Dad was quick to credit the Italians for inventing everything. Heavily opinionated, he always kept everyone entertained with his quips and jabs. Dads unique character found its way into everyones lives and hearts. Special thanks to the staff at the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Seven Oaks Hospital for taking such great care of Dad. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 28, at 12:30 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. If friends so desire, donations can be made to a charity of their choice.
